Talk outline 1.What is needed in the market? 2.Brief technology description. 3.Stage of development. 4.Who needs it & how many will they need? 5.What is my unique technology advantage? 6.Competitive matrix. 7.How will I beat the competition? 8.Opportunity for joint work.

Proprietary information statement The technology material presented in this talk is available for licensing or joint product development. None of the slides contain any confidential or proprietary information which would prevent patenting the technology.

Market Need Resently the global battery market is about $50 billion US. The growth is estimated at 6% annually through The market deal with battery R&D equipments is in the range about $1 billion US.

Problem Description Todays there is a huge discrepancy between research and commercial battery development. The main reason is that most research laboratories can not carry out electrochemical testing of their materials in full battery samples of industrial sizes. About 1000 R&D centers and university need reliable, portable and low cost laboratory equipment to assemble battery samples of industrials size.

Brief technology description We have developed reliable, precise and relatively low cost sets of laboratory equipment and technology for making battery samples of standard industrial sizes. Examples of coin and cylindrical batteries assembled using our laboratory equipments 2016 coin battery 2325 coin battery Heavy duty MnO2/Zn D size battery Alkaline AA battery Rechargeable AA battery Cylindrical batteries

Advantages Different promising materials for battery technologies could be tested in battery samples of some standard industrial sizes; Lab equipment and technologies allow to assemble coin cells of 2016 and 2325 sizes, cylindrical AA and D sizes for testing Lithium, Lithium-Ion, Lithium-Polymer and alkaline manganese dioxide batteries, as well as novel materials for these types of batteries.

Characteristics of coin batteries attained in standard industrial sizes Characteristic of cylindrical batteries attained in standard industrial sizes Experimental results

Stage of development The Figures presented sampler of Lab equipment KNUTD has developed unique sets of equipment and Lab. technology for assembling the following types of cylindrical batteries: coin cells of 2016 and 2325 sizes; cylindrical batteries of AA and D sizes. The above equipments installed successfully by KNUTD in the R&D centre of Superior Graphite Co. USA. The equipment allow Superior Graphite Co. to provided novel energetic materials to the battery market.

Targeted Market Segment University which carry out R&D in the field of power sources; R&D centers of manufacture of batterys components; Market related with testing of different promising active materials, electrolytes, separators, and other novel materials for battery market. In the world about 1000 R&D centers carry out investigation deal with power sources. This laboratories may be potentials market for our laboratory equipments and test their materials in the batteries of industrial size.

Competition Only Hohsen Corp. proved testing and manufacturing equipment for the battery research This equipment is used for sealing for cylindrical cell Weight :About 175 kg This is a crimping tool for coin cells Weight :About 12 kgWeight :17 kg The Figures presented some sampler of equipments provides by Hohsen Corp. Size: 150 (W) x 350 (L) x 200 (H) mm Size: 185 (W) x 245 (L) x 300 (H) mm Size: 440 (W) x 750 (L) x 720 (H) mm Price : about $6,000 US Price : about $18,000 US Price : about $30,000 US The equipments provided by Hohsen Corp. adapted only for specified type of battery. Also this equipment is expensive and no portable

Competitive Matrix Equipment for assembling AA battery My institutes productHohsen Corp. (Japan) Adapting for different electrochemical systems The equipment may be easy adapted for most of electrochemical systems The electrochemical systems should be specified. Reliability Reliable for different electrochemical systems. Facile replacement parts of equipment. Reliable for specified electrochemical systems. Portability Portable. Mass of sets of equipment up to 10 Kg. No portable. Total mass of equipment could reach up to 500 kg Price about US$ 20 K about US$ 200 K

Opportunities We would like to found potential business partners in order to support a joint product development of modern battery technologies, especially in the field of lithium-ion battery. We would like to develop the scientific and business relationships with research and for-profit companies specializing in the field of development of different battery components (active materials, electrolytes, separators, additives, etc.) in order testing and commercialization of their R&D results in battery samples of standard industrial sizes. We estimate the cost of financial support for this work from 300K to 700K depending on a standard size equipment set.
