Why was offering guide services to tourists suitable for Fred? He found out that he had a gift for making a visit interesting and lively. In other words, he was by nature a good guide.

What is good preparation for the world outside schools and universities? In what ways? A part-time job; you learn the value of money; you learn to work with others in a team.

Why might employers prefer to hire someone with work experience? They value someone who leads an active life and is anxious to learn.

Does the writer encourage the reader to depend on others or to be independent? To be independent.

When he left university he had earned enough money to start his own business.
