EFORWOOD Tools for Sustainability Impact Assessment of the Forestry-Wood Chain EFORWOOD Tools for Sustainability Impact Assessment of the Forestry-Wood Chain

OVERALL OBJECTIVE Assess the sustainability of complete Forestry-Wood chains by developing integrated methods and tools to be used in Sustainability Impact Assessment of the Forestry-Wood chains, and with the help of these tools improve their sustainability

Assessing quantitatively the impact on sustainability of potential changes in the FWCs, by analysing trade offs between sustainability indicators. Scientific & technical approach Analysing and mapping the main processes of the current FWCs Assessing the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the FWCs by employing sustainability indicators Elaborating future scenarios, implying changes in the current FWCs

M6 Knowledge Transfer M5 Industry to Consumer Interactions M4 Processing & Manufacturing M3 Forest to Industry interactions M2 Forest Resources Management M1 Sustainability Impact Assessment (ToSIA) M0 Scientific Co-ordination & Mangement EFORWOOD module structure

Why EFORWOOD? The benefits of EFORWOOD include an increased political and public awareness of the sector as a major contributor to sustainable development and growth EFORWOOD will, for the first time ever, make it possible to analyse the sustainability impact of the entire FWC from a holostic perspective EFORWOOD will contribute to the identification of sustainable options for future FWC:s EFORWOOD will make it possible to compare different future options EFORWOOD is needed for policy-making and to identify the possibilities for the forestry and forest-based industry sector to stand out as an advanced industrial sector contributing to a sustainable society
