Regional partnership for UPR - increased social accountability

Examples of specific support on UPR  support government in establishing a national action plan based on accepted UPR recommendations  increase awareness and dialogue among stakeholders on international human rights machinery  Support to NHRIs with OHCHR, ICC and APF  …

Not a stand alone process! UPR recommendations as entry point for broader support on justice/Rule of Law, legal empowerment, human rights based approach etc.

Legal Empowerment in the Arab States  Review of UPR/ESCR committee recommendations and courts cases in the region that refer to economic and social rights  draft manual on legal empowerment of the poor in Arabic  study on the situation of informality in Jordan (and Syria)

Regional consultation constitutional dialogue  75 participants from Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Libya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine and Somalia  international experiences on elements of constitutional dialogue as a process and on comparative constitutional outputs with respect to the following key questions:  How can diversity (linguistic, religious, ethnic etc.) be best enshrined and protected by the Constitution?  What role for the constitution in protecting social and economic inclusion and the justiciability of those rights?  How can the constitution help guide intra state and state-society relations in the context of local governance reform?  What is a gender sensitive constitution?
