Drug Free Workplace Policy SRCSB’s commitment: Provide students with a quality education in a safe learning environment Provide employees with a safe work environment Eliminate substance abuse related costs from our operations

Types of Drug Testing Job Applicant Current Employee All individuals hired required to submit to a drug screen and be free of alcohol and controlled substances Current Employee Post Injury Reasonable Suspicion Follow-up

Rules of Conduct Prohibits employees from being on duty and possessing, using, distributing or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Prohibits employees from misusing alcohol or possessing, using or distributing drugs off the job to the extent that any off-duty possession, use or distribution impacts upon their effectiveness and ability to perform their employment duties, or adversely affects the interests of the School Board.

Penalties for Refusal to Submit An injured employee forfeits any medical and indemnity benefits under Florida Worker’s Compensation Statute May be discharged or otherwise disciplined by the School Board

Confidentiality All information, interviews, reports, statements, memos, and drug test results, written or otherwise, received by the School Board will be treated in a confidential manner, unless otherwise required by Florida law.

Employee Responsibilities for Safety Maintain a safe work area Perform duties in a safe manner Complete required safety training Make sure you have the tools you need to safely do your job or perform a task Example: standing on a chair or table to attach something to a wall, bulletin board or ceiling tile is strictly prohibited Report any unsafe conditions to your site administrator Immediately report any incident or injury to your administrator/supervisor

Workplace Injury Procedure Report injuries immediately to administrative personnel at your work site First Report of Injury and Incident Investigation report must be completed and submitted to Risk Management Post-incident drug screens are required for all incidents reported to administration Administrative personnel at work site will notify Risk Management regarding the incident/injury Three incident categories Report only – the incident does not require medical care but requires a post-incident drug screen Medical - the incident requires medical care for the employee but does not require immediate emergency care. Risk Management will arrange for the employee to be seen by the district’s designated worker’s compensation physician. Emergency - the incident requires immediate medical care and the employee will be taken or instructed to go to the closest Emergency Room for treatment Modified duty is available (usually at an alternate worksite)
