Tones  There are four tones in Chinese.  1 yi  5 wu  9 jiu

Basic Phrase  Hello!  Nǐ hǎo  My name is …  Wǒ jiào…  What’s your name?  Nǐ jiào shénme (míngzi)?

Basic Phrase  Thank you!  Xièxie (nǐ)  You are welcome.  Bú kèqi  Bye  Zài jiàn

Basic Phrase  Excuse me.  Bù hǎo yì si  I’m sorry.  Duìbuqǐ  It’s ok.  Méi guān xi.

Basic Phrase  I don't speak Chinese.  Wǒ bú huì shuō Zhōngwén.  Do you speak English?  Nǐ huì shuō Yīngyǔ ma?

Basic Phrase  Can I get online here?  Zhè er néng shàngwǎng ma?  Where is the bathroom?  Q ǐ ng wèn, Cèsǔo zài nǎ er?

Basic Phrase  How much does this cost?  Zhè gè duōshǎo qián?  Would you please help me?  Nín néng bāngwǒ yíxia ma?
