SSRI Pre-Conference June 22, 2008 CTE Programs Thrive with Business and Community Collaboration Marion Technical Institute

MTI Core Philosophy High school diploma is a by product of a Career education. Post-secondary articulations in a seamless model. Academies are determined by analysis of local, regional, state, and national employment needs. Provide training that permits students to enter the work force at various access points. Direct marketing provides students/families access to career planning. Embracing the 3 R’s - Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships Nationally recognized industry certifications and standards. Business drives the standard and expectation for proficiency.

How is this different? 66% of Florida’s current academies result in NO certifications. Business driven and product driven –NOT process driven Result in marketable skills –HS Diploma has become questionable –National certification Academy driven by demand and location –NOT what’s available (instructor, equip. etc.)
