Fudge-a-mania By Judy Blume

Characters The main character is Peter. He is a boy that acts like any normal person, but his little brother fudge is the weirdest person on the planet! There parents are normal people too and the Tubmans have an all normal family. Mitzi is a girl who lives down the street from them while their in main and is like a second fudge. Mitzi’s grandpa is a famous baseball player who acts like any old baseball player. Isobel is a girl who they met at the library and she is a sweet, kind, wonderful person. Peter’s mom, Mrs. Hatcher has a mother named Muriel and Mrs. Tubman has a father named Buzzy senior. They are both very energetic, and they are nature lovers.

Setting In this book there are lots of settings. The first one is in New York, New York where they live. After that, they drive to Southwest Harbor, Main. In Main they go to so many different places! You know that they go to the house there staying in and in the backyard but they also go to the library, and the baseball field to play a game of baseball. They also decide to go on a boat ride in a wooden boat and stop for lunch at an island. When they go on a bike ride in the woods something happens and they end up going to a bicycle store and they go to get ice cream. You’ll find out what happened in the plot events!

Problem There are 4 problems in this book. The first problem is a problem for Peter. It is that he has to live with Sheila Tubman, a girl he hates, for the summer because they share a house in Main. Another problem is that Peter’s friend Jimmy is going to come up to Main and peter promised a forest in between the two houses, not for them to be connected! Also when they go on the boat ride, Mr. Hatcher falls out of the boat on the way back! The last problem is that Muriel and Buzzy senior decide to get married, and when they throw the wedding in the back yard, Fudge throws the ring in the grass and they cant find it for another 2 hours!

Plot events I have 5 plot events. My first plot event is that instead of taking a plane to Southwest Harbor, the Hatchers decided to take a 6-hour drive to Main with a dog barking, and a bird squawking the whole time. My second one is that when they go on the boat ride, a really bad storm starts with crashing waves and rain blowing in the wind.....AND MR. HATCHER FALLS OVERBOARD!!! My third is that when Peter, Jimmy, and Sheila go on a bike ride a fly goes into Peter’s mouth and he swallows it! Then Peter becomes a member of the I.S.A.F club(the I swallowed a fly club). The fourth plot event is that Mr. Fargo, Jimmy’s dad, is an artist and he laid out a canvas covered with wet blue paint, Peter’s little sister, Tootsie, walks across the canvas and inspired Mr. Fargo to do a new art gallery called “baby feet”. The last plot event is when Muriel and Buzzy senior get married and instead of a tuxedo and a wedding dress, they wear black and white sweat suits!
