Lesson 1.8 Coordinate Plane How do you identify and plot points on a graph?

Key Vocabulary Coordinate plane: formed by the intersection of a horizontal line called the x-axis and vertical line called the y-axis. Origin: where the x-axis and y-axis meet; divides the plane into four quadrants Ordered pair: two numbers written in a certain order to tell you where to graph the point; the x- coordinate comes first followed by the y coordinate (x,y)

Naming Points and Coordinates

Plotting Points (-3, -2) (-3, 6) (5, 6) (5, -2)

Evaluate then graph the expression 2x+1, x= -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 Write ordered pair (x, 2x +1)
