V.5- They do all their deeds to be noticed by men 1 Samuel 16:7 “for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." Vs Outward appearance v/s inward reality Outside of the cup and dish appear clean Inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence Outside of the tomb has a beautiful appearance Inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness V.28 Outwardly, you appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Humble Obedience V.12- whoever humbles himself shall be exalted Humble- Bring down low James 4:5-8 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Humble Obedience V.11- the greatest among you shall be your servant John 13: So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13 "You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. 14 "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. 16 “ Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
