Who is God seeking?

What do people seek? n This time of year, people are thinking about looking for presents. n People look for things for themselves as well.

How do people seek for religion? n Something that suits or fits them. n People look for religion like they look for a car, clothes, or food. n We end up with numerous churches and belief systems. n This is a problem because there is only one God and one faith.

Ephesians 4 4. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5. one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6. one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!

Do people really know themselves? n It is true that we know what we want. n But, how well do we know our own bodies? n Some dont even know their own blood type or the location of their liver. n Can we truly know what to seek in spiritual matters, if we are basing it upon what we want? The way we would do it?

Do we know what is best for us? Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. n We know based upon this world and its knowledge we cannot know God.

I Corinthians 2 9. But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. 10. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

I Corinthians For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

God is the one who is seeking. n God has His criteria for what He wants in a worshiper and how they should worship Him. n He is the creator of everything and truly qualified in telling us how to serve Him and what is best for us. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Psalm 1 1. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1 3. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. 4. The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

Psalm 1 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6. For the LORD know the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

John 4: But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. n So who is God seeking?

Jesus draws two lines n The first line is between the Jews worship and the Samaratins worship. II Kings 17:27-34 n The second line is between the former worship and what is coming and now is, that the true worshipers will worship God the way He truly desires to be worshipped. Romans 7:6

Who is God seeking? 1. What is spirit? 2. What is truth? 3. Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth?

What is spirit? n God is Spirit. n Pneuma- current of air, breath. (human) the rational soul (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition. n God is not bound by physical body, and is eternal. n We have a spirit.

What is spirit? Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was. And the spirit will return to God who gave it. n We MUST worship God in our spirits. n Not bound by a location like Jerusalem, or by carnal ceremonies and dress. n By our hearts, spirits worshipping to Gods spirit.

What is spirit? I Timothy 2:8 Therefore I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wraith and doubting; I Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

What is truth? n While we have the right attitude and spirit, lets not forget Gods word. John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. n Jesus is the truth. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

What is truth? n Without the truth from God, we couldnt know Him or how to worship Him. John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth? n Do we meet Gods requirements for the people that He seeks? n If we wish to be His people it must be according to His will, and not according to THIS world or what we want. Mark 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?

Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth? Mark 7:6 He answered and said to them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 7. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth? Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men-- the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do. 9. And He said to them, All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth? n Search the Bible for truth and how God wants to be worshipped in all areas of worship and life. Romans 10:1 Brethren, my hearts desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

Are we Gods people who worship in spirit and truth? Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of Gods righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Are you a Christian? Luke 13:23 Then one said to Him, Lord, are there few who are saved? And He said to them, 24. Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

Are you a Christian? 25. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, you begin to stand outside and know at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open for us, and He will answer and say to you, I do not know you, where you are from,
