CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey Surveys 9 th -12 th graders nationally, every two years Developed in 1990 to monitor 6 types of risk behaviors: Behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence. Sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection. Alcohol and other drug use. Tobacco use. Unhealthy dietary behaviors. C2P® Detroit’s goals: 2012/13 Increase the number of gay-straight alliances at Detroit schools Increase availability of basic HIV information for teachers and other school employees Create a standardized HIV education presentation to be approved by parents and school board Increase Detroit Public Schools’ communication with parent on how to talk to their kids about HIV and sexuality.
