Decimals  Decimals are a part of a whole number.  Money is a good way to explain decimals because it has dollars and cents.  Lets say Billy had $2.50 and he spent $2 he would have 50 cents or 0.2 left.  If you needed $10 and you had $9 he would have 0.9 of what he needed.  A good way to explain decimals is that they are part of a whole number.  0.9 is nearly 1 but its not. and 36.9 is nearly 37 but its not quite. Hmm… if x = y but a + b = x. then that must mean, a + y = BANANA!
