Imagining the Future

WORLD WIDE WEB Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.World Wide Web A graduate of Oxford University, England, in 1989, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web His specifications of URLs, HTTP and HTML were refined as Web technology spread.URLs HTTP HTML He invented the system as a way of sharing scientific data (and other information) around the world, using the Internet, a world-wide network of computers, and hypertext documents. At the time, Berners-Lee was working at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory located in Geneva, Switzerland.

After he wrote the first browser in 1990, the World Wide Web was up and going. Its growth was (and still is) phenomenal, and has changed the world, making information more accessible than ever before in history. Berners-Lee is now a Principal Research Scientist at the Laboratory for Computer Science at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA) and the Director of the W3 Consortium.

Years later, businesses began using the Internet. At this time no one party operates the Internet, there are several entities that oversee the system and the procedures that are involved. The speed of the Internet has changed the way people receive information. Internet usage is at an all time high. Almost 100 million U.S. adults are now going online every month, according to New York-based Mediamark Research. © Internet 101. by TemplateLite.com | Presented by Web Hosting ( -basics)
