Revision – Marginal Gains David Brailsford said: “It’s important to understand the ‘aggregation of marginal gains’. Put simply… how small improvements in a number of different aspects of what we do can have a huge impact to the overall performance of the team.” P

Make it FUN! P Why did the hedgehog cross the road? To show his mate he had guts.. … or to see his flat mate.

Mnemonics Mnemonics is a learning technique that aids memory. To improve long term memory, mnemonic systems are used to make memorization easier. They do so by increasing the efficiency of the process of consolidation. This process involves the conversion of short term memory to long term memory. Commonly encountered mnemonics are often verbal, such as a very short poem or a special word used to help a person remember something, particularly lists, but a mnemonic may instead be visual, kinesthetic or auditory. The Keyword Method pairs new words with keywords. A keyword is one that sounds like the new word and is also something that can be easily pictured. For example; if a student is learning that a, ‘barrister,’ is another word used to describe a lawyer, they might picture a bear in a courtroom. Mnemonics – Keyword Method M

We all know and love the alphabet song, which we sing to help us remember the letters of the alphabet. Well this is a perfect example of mnemonics, a revision technique that could help students remember difficult words, dates or names. Word association and making up rhymes is a really useful memory tool for students who find it hard to take in written words. Mnemonics – Songs & Rhymes M
