Introduction  What is Linux? Linux is an operating system that runs on a server not the mainframe. The purpose of an operating system is to organize and control hardware and software. Examples of other operating systems are DOS, Windows, MAC, UNIX. Changing Odyssey to run on Linux is almost completely invisible to the end user  Benefits of Linux Platform Cost Savings from Mainframe expenses Improve performance of Odyssey Strategic Position to run modern ERP (new system) Ease to enhance system and interface with other products Bring the college inline with HETG (the consortium) New Feature for viewing reports

User Impact  Sign on Icon on desktop (Linux Production) Sign on will be network id and Password  Processing All Odyssey screens and command paths remain the same Function key change for Foot Print (Control Key F2)  Reports View reports on Odyssey Web Online Batch Submission: Printer Destination ○ Local printer – prints at local Odyssey printer ○ PDFPRT – goes to your box ○ Fetch – goes only to web viewer  Other Tasks Old macros for quick paths will not work Cut and Paste (control Insert keys and shift insert keys) highlighting text wraps around to beginning of line
