OLIVIER 16/08/20048 “4.8 Quality of drinking water Public health quality The user expects to be supplied with water that poses no threat to public health and complies with applicable local regulations and/or guidelines. Example of PI : Performance indicator: Total number of treated drinking water tests complying with the local regulations and guidelines in a year / total number of tests of treated drinking water carried out during the year x 100 Guideline: The operator or responsible body should include in a periodic report (e.g. the annual report) a summary of water quality related problems.” (*) as drafted in the CD submitted to TC enquiry in April 2005 ISO and water quality (*)

OLIVIER 16/08/20049 “4.2 Protection of public health The primary objective of a drinking water utility is to ensure a sufficient supply of safe and agreeable drinking water”. Sufficient supply means a quantity of drinking water available to the consumer in accordance with applicable national public health standards, regulations or guidelines taking into account the WHO sanitation Guidelines (see bibliography [8]) Safe drinking water means drinking water that has a quality in accordance with the applicable national health regulations taking into account the WHO Guidelines for drinking water quality (see bibliography [9]). (*) as drafted in the CD submitted to TC enquiry in April 2005 ISO 24512…some objectives for the drinking water utility (1) (*)

OLIVIER 16/08/ “4.3 Provision of services (under normal and emergency situations) An objective of a drinking water utility is to ensure that under normal conditions drinking water is available on a continuous basis. The objective should be also to provide drinking water to critical customers or critical service areas during emergency situations and to restore service as quickly as possible when interruptions have occurred. (*) as drafted in the CD submitted to TC enquiry in April 2005 ISO 24512…some objectives for the drinking water utility (2) (*)
