KHIE: Multipurpose Network

KHIE & Healtheway Vision To serve as a critical element of the nationwide health information infrastructure; and To improve the health and welfare of all Americans through health information exchange that is trusted, that scales, and enhances quality of care and health outcomes by supporting comprehensive longitudinal health records. Mission To expand trusted, secure and interoperable exchange of health information across the nation by providing shared governance and necessary shared service to public and private organizations who wish to interconnect as a network of networks. eHealth Exchange Vision / Mission

KHIE & Direct Messaging Send PHI securely to patients and providers Messages are encrypted Reduces fax and paper communications

KHIE Patient Portal Instead of filling a file folder with medical information or creating a makeshift spreadsheet, get a handle on your health. You can easily compile and manage family medical records, and send those records to your physician before your next medical appointment. You can be in control of your health records You decide what information goes in, what stays out, and who to share your records with. You can direct your health information to your doctor, clinic or hospital. Instead of struggling to recall medications and remember past illnesses in the waiting room, you can create your record from the comfort of home. You can then provide your medical contacts with a more legible, accurate and complete picture of your health – contributing to improved communication and coordination of care, and reducing the chance of medical errors, duplicate tests and unnecessary costs. “Managing family health records is a challenge”

How is Consumer Engagement Being Supported by KHIE? Coordinating Council & Committees (consumer focused) GOEHI Marketing Campaign NeHC CeRT (Consumer eHealth Readiness Tool)—first in the nation to adopt Convened Meeting of Stakeholders Top Priority—MU Stages 2 and 3 Consumer Engagement

KHIE & Meaningful Use – 2013 and Forward Public Health Reporting – Expanded Focused work with vendors to determine timeline for functionality needed for Stage 2 MU Work with each provider/vendor to determine best path forward to meet Stage 2 MU requirements/gap analysis & plan Implementation of Patient Portal/PHR
