Saved By Grace! Ephesians 2:1-10

Man’s Old Condition: Dead To God! (Ephesians 2:1-3) And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. (RSV)

Man’s New Condition: Alive To God! (Ephesians 2:4-7) But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (RSV)

God’s Workmanship (Ephesians 2:8-10) For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God-- not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (RSV)

Saved By Grace: OT Examples Noah –(Genesis 6:8) But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. (NKJV) –(Hebrews 11:7) By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. (NKJV) Naaman –(2 Kings 5:1) Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. (NKJV) –(2 Kings 5:10) And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean." (NKJV)

Saved By Grace Through Faith: (Romans 3:23-25) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, (NKJV) (Hebrews 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)

Saved By Grace Through Faith: (Romans 10:17) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJV) (Acts 17:30) "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, (NKJV) (Romans 10:9-10) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (NKJV) (Mark 16:16) "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (NKJV)

Grace Instructs Us How To Live! (Titus 2:11-12) For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men, training us to renounce irreligion and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world, (RSV) (1 John 1:8-10) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (RSV)
