Public v Private by Emma,Robs,Matt and Chris
Public Benefits It is paid for by taxes so it feels free Not elitist- does not separate the rich from the poor Well equipped ICU and A+E Not over diagnosed Public hospitals want patients out of hospital quickly.
Private Benefits (bupa) no waiting lists extensive private cancer cover available in the UK access to quality treatment from consultants and specialists a straightforward claims service that puts you first access to over 400^ clean and comfortable recognised hospitals
Private benefits contd access to groundbreaking drugs and eligible treatments a 24-hour nurse health line offering medical guidance
Public disadvantages Really really long waiting lists Because NHS is a universal benefit it is more likely to be abused. NHS trained doctors can be lost to private sector health centres
Private disadvantages It can be costly (you pay twice) Not covered for everything
Conclusion For minor surgeries private health centres provide a better service even if it is more expensive. Also the food is nicer
