23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status3 LHCb Representation Steering Group (J Harvey, M Cattaneo) Software Project Panel (P Mato,O Callot) World-wide Computing Model Panel (F Harris,M Schmelling) Management and Resources Panel (J Harvey, J P Dufey)

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status4 Software Project Panel -first questions and answers 4 sets of detailed questions for each experiment –Process, Planning,Training and Milestones (Project Plan, Resources…..) –Architecture, Data Model and program infrastructure (GAUDI etc…) –Simulation and Physics (GEANT4 migration, geometry spec, generators, comp/physics…) –Non-experiment-specific software (what we expect from others..IT,commerce, etc.) 1 hour on each of above on March 15 (I.e. 4 hours of LHCb presentations) IT on March 14 will present on –LHC++ –GEANT4 –databases/event storage

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status5 Overall planning for Software Panel (good example for the other panels!) Mar Presentations by expts and IT Mar 27 First internal rough draft + follow up questions April 17 All experiment responses complete May 8 Draft report complete - circulate to experiments May 18 Deadline for correction and clarification May 31 Final report given to Steering Group

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status6 World Wide Panel - draft questions ( Schedule for reply - a half-day in period Mar ) LHCb model with respect to MONARC models? Our first thinking re regional centres distribution Requirements at centres for storage and processing from now to ? Magnetic Tapes vs. Disks (what is our thinking) LHCb and GRID activities ? Mock data challenges and test-beds Resource planning from now till 2005 Expt plans vs. plans in countries - check consistency!

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status7 Management and Resources Panel - Status Met once on Feb 16 (JH,FH,JPD attended) Agreed big overlap with World Wide Panel - must estimate resources and management for experiment computing Mar 24 -Baseline computing plan based on existing h/w! Apr 14 - Software planning (distribution of responsibilities) As for software panel - aim to complete end May

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status8 Summary of LHCb status re review Computer Model, Resources and Management Have started on updating our data flow model and creating spreadsheets for requirements ( J Harvey, F Harris, G Corti) Getting regional planning from country representatives – Brazil P Colrain(CERN) – CERN J Harvey(CERN) – France A Tsaregorodtsev(Marseille) – Germany M Schmelling(MPI Heid) – Italy D Galli(Bologna) – Holland M Merk(NIKHEF) – Poland M Witek(Cracow) – Russia I Belyaev(ITEP) – Spain J Saborido(Santiago) – Switzerland P Bartalini(Lausanne) – UK A Halley(Glasgow) T Bowcock will also act on WG (MC Farm) Working meeting Friday 25 Feb A Software Project Pere and Olivier to generate a document answering questions (those that are answerable..)

23 Feb 2000F Harris Hoffmann Review Status9 Draft Agenda for WG meeting Friday 25 Feb,1400, A Review questions regarding computing model and resources ( first discussion on our answers) Information on GRID EU proposal Update on UK status for LHC computing planning Update on other LHCb countries (Germany,France, Italy,.....)
