The Man in the Middle

There was a mountain and there were three trees There was a good man and there were two thieves A man called Barabbas was doomed for the tree But Jesus took the middle one and Barabbas went free. I love that man in the middle Because I know He first loved me Praise God to that man who died on Mount Calvary The middle man made it possible that I could go free.

The Man in the Middle  Jesus was the man in the middle Phil 2:5-8; Heb 2:9, 14-17

The Man in the Middle  Barabbas should have been the man in the middle Lk 23:13-25 The innocent man went into the middle instead of the guilty.

The Man in the Middle  There was a good man and there were two thieves Lk 23:33: two criminals (Mt, Mk, Jn specify thieves) How good? = sinless Jn 8:46; 1 Jn 3:5; Heb 4:15 A perfect man died a criminal’s death between two criminals Isa 53:9; Gal 3:13; Heb 12:2; 1 Cor 1:18, Even one of the thieves recognized the man in the middle should not be there Lk 23:39-43

The Man in the Middle  Love prompted the man to be in the middle; such love prompts me to love Him 1 Jn 4:19; 1 Jn 3:16; Jn 15:13-14; 14:15; 2 Cor 5:14-15

The Man in the Middle  What the middle man accomplished- He died to make it possible that I could go free I praise Him Rom 6:23; Rev 21:8; Isa 53:4-6; 1 Pet 1:18-19; 2 Cor 5:19-21 In a very real sense, Barabbas represents me- I deserved to be the man in the middle, destined not just for execution, but for hell, but Jesus took my place and God released me.
