 The Hindustan Times was the first Indian daily newspaper from Capital.  Established in 1923, was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi.  First Editor- K.M Panikkar.  Pannikar had two able assistants – C.S. Raghvan and A.K. Menon, who made his task of running the paper lighter.  The paper has also been known for its matrimonial columns.  In paper was in the hands of G.D. Birla after the resignation of Pannikar.  The Hindustan Times like other nationalist papers,suffered during the independence movement for supporting the freedom struggle.

 The paper had number of journalist as its editors – Devdas Gandhi, Durga Das, J,N. Sahni, B. G.Verghees and Khushwant Singh.   HT as one of the leading newspaper pioneered development journalism gave the news carrying articles on water supply and famine.  The feature on “our village Chethra” carried on for several years is remembered as example of first rate rural reporting.  Sister concern paper – Hindustan Times in Hindi- started in 1936

 Also Started a supplement named- HT estates for the real estates and property advisors and interiors.  HT believes in continuous improvement and provide greater value to its readers and advisors.
