Jesus said, ‘It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.’ John 6.63 Prayer of the day Everliving God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified: hear the prayers we offer for all your faithful people, that in the ministry to which you have called them each may serve you in holiness and truth; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, 575 who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain; I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame, I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide Till their hearts are satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. Daniel L Schutte 1947CCLI: 61732

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22.37–40, Mark 12.30–31

Let us pray. Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

1 How lovely is your dwelling-place: O Lord God of hosts! 2 My soul has a desire and longing to enter the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. 3 The sparrow has found her a home, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young: even your altar, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house: they will always be praising you.

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you: in whose heart are the highways to Zion; 6 Who, going through the valley of dryness, find there a spring from which to drink: till the autumn rain shall clothe it with blessings. 7 They go from strength to strength: they appear, every one of them, before the God of gods in Zion. 8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

9 Behold, O God, him who reigns over us: and look upon the face of your anointed. 10 One day in your courts is better than a thousand: I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of ungodliness. 11 For the Lord God is a light and a shield, the Lord gives favour and honour: and no good thing will he withhold from those who walk in innocence. 12 O Lord God of hosts: blessed are those who put their trust in you.

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, naught be all else to me, save that thou art, thou my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou my great Father, thy child let me be; thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee.

Be thou my armour, my sword for the fight, be thou my dignity, thou my delight; thou my soul’s shelter and thou my high tower; raise thou me heaven-ward, O Power of my power Riches I scorn and the world’s empty praise, thou my inheritance, now and always; thou and thou only the first in my heart; high King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, after victory won, may I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, what ever befall, still be my vision, O ruler of all. Irish traditional melody harm. David Evans

A Reading from John, Chapter 6, Beginning at the 56 th verse Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ For the Gospel of the Lord, Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ has promised that you will hear us when we ask in faith: receive the prayers we offer.

Accept our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

Knowing the goodness of God and our failure to respond with love and obedience, let us confess our sins, saying together,

Heavenly Father, you have loved us with an everlasting love, but we have broken your holy laws and have left undone what we ought to have done. We are sorry for our sins and turn away from them. For the sake of your Son who died for us, forgive us, cleanse us and change us. By your Holy Spirit, enable us to live for you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are the body of Christ His Spirit is with us The peace of the Lord be always with you And also with you.

Only by grace can we enter, only by grace can we stand. Not by our human endeavour, but by the blood of the Lamb. Into your presence you call us, you call us to come. Into your presence you draw us, and now by your grace we come.

Only in your love can we rest, only in your perfect plan. Not by our own undertaking, and not in the wisdom of man. Into your presence you call us, you call us to come. Into your presence you draw us, and now by your grace we come.

Lord if you mark our transgressions Who would stand? Oh.. thanks to your grace we are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, the blood of the Lamb. Lord if you mark our transgressions Who would stand? Oh.. thanks to your grace we are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, the blood of the Lamb.

Only by grace can we enter, only by grace can we stand. Not by our human endeavour, but by the blood of the Lamb. Into your presence you call us, you call us to come. Into your presence you draw us, and now by your grace we come. Gerrit Gustafson with additional words by Kim Hill © 1990 Integrity’s Hosanna Music CCLI: 61732

You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, making us in your own image. We praise you for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by his death on the cross and rising to new life offered the one true sacrifice for sin and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people. Therefore, we lift our voices to praise you, saying,

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. And now, gracious God, we thank you for these gifts of bread and wine, and pray that we who receive them, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, according to our Saviour’s word, in remembrance of his suffering and death, may share his body and blood.

On the night before he died, Jesus took bread, and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat. This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in Remembrance of me.’ We eat this bread and drink this cup to proclaim the death of the Lord.

We do this until he returns. Come, Lord Jesus! Father, as we recall his saving death and glorious resurrection, may we who share these gifts be renewed by your Holy Spirit and united in the body of your Son. Bring us with all your people into the joy of your eternal kingdom, there to feast at your table and join in your eternal praise:

Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive praise and honour and glory and power for ever and ever. Amen. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

Communion Hymn -Belovèd and Blessèd

Belovèd and blessèd The Father's pure delight. Redeemer, Sustainer You're my passion and my prize. My Brother, my Comforter, My Shepherd and my Friend. My Ransom, my Righteousness, You're the Stream that never ends.

You're unchanging, You're magnificent, You are all I could desire. You're my Breath of life, Sun of righteousness, You're the Love that satisfies. There's kindness, compassion, For those who will draw near; Acceptance, forgiveness, And a love that conquers fear.

You're the Word of life, You're the Bread of heaven, You're the Lion and the Lamb. My whole being cries, 'Lord be glorified By everything I am.' Beloved, my Beloved Stuart Townend Copyright © 2000 Thankyou Music -

Gracious God, thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the body and blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Thank you for assuring us of your goodness and love, and that we are living members of Christ’s body.

Father, we offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory.

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen
