One Last Time: Good-Bye to Yankee Stadium By Ray Negron Yankee Stadium! It was the legendary home of baseball immortals, World Series champions, and classic moments in sports history, but after eighty-five years the House that Ruth Built is feeling her age, and the time has come to say good- bye. So as a new Yankee Stadium opens, Ray the Batboy and the Boss summon some of the greatest players who have worn the pinstripes to this hallowed field for one last game. And what a game it is!

Ray Negron is a person who loves baseball, kids, and writing books. The owner of the Yankees, George Steinbrenner, found Ray as a child writing on a Yankee Stadium wall and hired him as the Yankee bat boy. Later played baseball at Springfield Gardens High School and as a professional for the Pittsburg Pirates in Ray currently works with the New York Yankees as a personal aide to Mr. Steinbrenner. He also spends time working with boys and girls in difficult situations. Mr. Negron likes writing books for children. Mr. Negron’s first book, The Boy of Steel, has won several awards and is displayed at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. His last book, One Last Time: Goodbye to Yankee Stadium was released March 17, The foreword was written by Reggie Jackson, and is a beautiful book about Yankee Stadium memories. Much of the money that is earned by selling these books is donated to children’s and other charities.
