Regional Initiatives The TRUE Market Drivers Built Green Alberta (prescriptive) – EGNH labelling of all houses and builder training are mandatory requirements Power Smart New Home Program – Manitoba (prescriptive) – EGNH labelling of all houses is mandatory, most houses rate at EGNH 77 or higher GreenHome Program – Yukon (performance based) – each house is generally EGNH 80 or higher Novoclimat – Quebec (prescriptive) – each house is generally EGNH 78 or higher ENERGY STAR for New Houses The common denominator - EGNH

Selling Energy Efficiency Consumers are concerned about the environment, about global warming, and monthly fuel costs Home Builders slow to adopt change. Other industries/manufacturers embrace change and innovation and use it to improve their business Typically, builders make 5 – 15% on their houses, but can make 50 – 200% on energy upgrades and increase customer satisfaction while doing it

Key Messages EnerGuide for New Houses: Here is a quality home whose builder has the confidence to have it tested so you can make an informed consumer decision ENERGY STAR for New Homes: No need to look any further, this home is among the most energy efficient on the market Two tools that help builders sell better homes

Benefits of EGNH Shows customers the financial benefits of energy efficient upgrades Recognizable government-backed label Not a pass/fail standard, but a universal rating tool The ratings are predictable and modeled in the worst case scenario, so no surprises when house is built

ENERGY STAR Qualified New Houses Suited to the production building process Easy to apply for approval of a custom option package Most recognized energy efficiency brand on the market Real Estate Sales Training: 1 day sales course (8-RECO credits) – available from the established R-2000/EGNH training curriculum

Knowledge - It Builds trust Increased credibility People do not buy from someone they don’t trust These tools are backed by the GoC’s QA process Consumers get information easily – best in class – no need to go further
