Objective This presentation will introduce you to three parts of speech: NOUNS, VERBS and ADJECTIVES. You will then have a chance to practice what you have learned.

Nouns A noun names anything that we can hear, see, touch, taste or smell. Nouns are the names of Persons - People Places and Things

Find the VERB Anja loves the Backstreet Boys. Read the sentence. Select one of the underlined words to answer. Anja loves the Backstreet Boys.

Anja is a person and therefore a noun. Try Again Anja is a person and therefore a noun.

Not this one! Backstreet Boys is the name of a group of people and is therefore a noun.

Awesome Loves is a verb. It tells what Anja is doing. Let’s move on.

ADJECTIVES These are words that describe nouns. They tell the color, shape, texture, sound, smell and taste of an object. They give you more information about the person, place or thing that your are describing.

Mary has a red dress. Find the ADJECTIVE Read the sentence. Select one of the underlined words to answer. Mary has a red dress.

Great Job Red is an adjective. It tells about the color of the dress.

Oops try again Mary is the name of a person and is therefore a NOUN.

Not Quite Dress is a thing and is therefore a noun.
