What do schools include in a site? n Calendars/events n parent conference times n performance schedules n sports schedules/records n field trip information and persmission forms n lunch menus!

and n Mission statements n School improvement plans n Resource links n Class pages - student work n Staff information- links n job openings n School statistics n Student portfolios n Newsletters

Questions to Answer n Who is audience? – Community – School – World n District home page or individual departments? n Scope of site? n How long will student work be kept? n How and when to update information? n Commercial content allowed? n What standards?

Technical and Design Standards n size or length of page n fonts, graphic size, format n backgrounds, colors, tables, image maps, sound, animations, special effects n consistency - logo, etc. on each page n directory structure n compliance with networking standards

Student and Staff Safeguards n Content - how to avoid questionable material or links n Use phone #s and e- mail addresses? n Last names? n Parental permission to publish a page? n Appeal process if permission to publish a page is denied?
