Case Study Sadra Omid Chabahar Shipyard complex 1

Case Study Sadra Omid Chabahar Shipyard complex After gathering the initial data, the breakwater was designed. Due to the breaking waves, it was necessary to use a toe berm for the breakwater. Also the top level of the armors was determined due to the wave run-up and overtopping conditions. In addition, the core width was considered to be at least 8 meters to have enough area for transportations. The results of investigation about the soil type and strength parameters are shown in table 1. According to these data, the place soil is soft. The typical section of breakwater is shown in figure 1. The calculations show the typical section on the soft soil foundation is not stable [1] 2

Solution For increase the safety and life span of structure Goesynthetic are used in all fields of civil engineering to increase the safety and life span of structure in addition to satisfy necessary function. These may include: separation, drainage, filtration, reinforcement, protection, and sealing as well as erosion control. Geosynthetics which 1-are used for foundation reinforcement are Geotextiles and Gaogrids. They are materials with high tension strength that improve the mechanical properties of soft soil. In this research according to analyzing results by application of a layer of Segugrid® R6 400/40 over the soft soil 2-, the foundation of embankment will be reinforced. For separation embankment from soft soil, a layer of Terrafix® R 813 is installed. 3-For drainage & filtration embankment, a layer of Terrafix® R 609 is installed. 3

conclusion According to the result of calculation, by application of Geosynthetic materials in construction of embankments which should be designed on soft soil, the stabilization of them is ensured. In this project Geosynthetic materials can be applied in three functions: 1) Sequgrid® R6 400/40; This type of Geosynthetic by increasing strength parameters of soft foundation soil, ensures stability of embankment and makes possible to construct steeper slope. 2) Terrafix® R 813; This type of Geosynthetic separate embankment from soft foundation soil. This material has a good separation capacity while on the other hand is fabricated to resist high impact forces on site during construction. This material is heavier than water so the installation under water can be easily taken place. 4
