Thoughts and Feelings, Fears, Strengths and Weaknesses as you began Candidate Teaching. My first fear was that I would do everything wrong. I was afraid I would not be able to handle the ways of fifth graders. I was afraid I would not be smarter than a fifth grader. I was afraid they would not like me and treat me like the dreaded substitute.

Philosophy BeforeNow Treat all students the same You have to treat the students in a way that is fair for them individually. All teachers should adhere to the code of ethics. I still believe this, but I have come to a realization that not all teachers will do this. I just have to believe in myself and follow what I know is right. What if I cannot control the chaos. “Controlled Chaos!” Do not let the kids get to you. Think before you speak. Elementary students will not do anything wrong. You have to be prepared for anything.

Continuing to Plan as an Educator I am anxious to learn more with each class and child I have as a teacher. I feel that in order to be an effective teacher, one must continue to be willing to learn. I am nervous about being in the classroom by myself because I will not have any one there to guide me. I have a long term sub position coming up, and I am very excited to get a true feeling for the classroom by myself. I am nervous about being able to get it all done with the time limit I have. I feel like I have to constantly stay on my toes to stay ahead of the children as their minds grow. I want to be a constant “Bucket Filler.” I hope that my students see me as someone they can look up too.
