SUBJECT MATTER

SUBJECT MATTER The type of image displayed in an artwork. These images are easily identified by the viewer.

There are 5 types of subject matter

PORTRAIT A drawing, painting, or sculpture of a person

LANDSCAPE A drawing or painting of an outdoor scene. (mountains, trees, outdoor scenery)

STILL LIFE A drawing or painting of objects - such as objects that can sit on a table top.

Abstract  Distorted or exaggerated representations of people places or things.

Non-objective  Art compositions that only uses the elements of art and principles of design.  Think of “No Objects”.
