Creating A Great Science-O-Rama Project Open to all students in grades 3-5

Getting Started Get a display board and instructions from your teacher. Additional display boards can be requested through Mr. Curry, our school’s Science-O-Rama Coordinator in Room 31 or at ext Choose an idea that you wish to explore as a project. With your parents, decide if you are doing either a – Display of something you learned – Demonstration or model (such as an exploding volcano) – Advanced Science Fair that uses the full Scientific Method Do the Project and then the display board.

Scientific Method The Scientific Method is the traditional approach of investigating a scientific topic. It follows the pattern of: 1. Hypothesis: Guess what you think will happen, based on research of the problem. 2. Observations: Using your senses, what is happening? 3. Write Down what you see (Record Data). 4. Graph what happens (Make a graph or pictures) 5. Conclusions: Was your hypothesis Correct? Why or why not? See an example on line: web/kids/experiments/scimethod/hypothesis.html web/kids/experiments/scimethod/hypothesis.html
