Origin In 1945, the United Nations was established to: -save succeeding generations from the scourge of war; -to reaffirm faith in the …dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women;

And because of these objectives, peace education has developed.

PEACE EDUCATION -education that promotes a culture of peace -cultivates a knowledge base, attitudes, and skills that seeks to transform people mindsets, attitude, and behaviors.

Peace education is an integral part of the work of United Nations. Integral is essential or necessary for completeness

UNESCO and UNICEF -describes peace education as schooling and other educational initiatives.

“Peace Education” as Conflict Resolution Training Typically focus on the social- behavioral symptoms of conflict; Training individuals to resolve inter-personal disputes through techniques of negotiation and (peer) mediation. Learning to manage anger, “fight fair” and improve communication through skills

“Peace Education” as Human Rights Education centered on raising awareness of human rights typically focus at the level of policies. The aim is to engender a commitment among participants to a vision of structural peace in which all individual members of the human race can exercise their personal freedoms and be legally protected from violence, oppression and indignity.
