distributed antenna system

GSM - Base station subsystem 1 Indoor coverage is also supported by GSM and may be achieved by using an indoor picocell base station, or an Cellular repeater|indoor repeater with distributed indoor antennas fed through power splitters, to deliver the radio signals from an antenna outdoors to the separate indoor distributed antenna system

Distributed antenna system 1 A 'distributed antenna system', or DAS, is a network of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source via a transport medium that provides wireless service within a geographic area or structure. DAS antenna elevations are generally at or below the clutter level and node installations are compact.

Distributed antenna system - Concept 1 A distributed antenna system can be implemented using passive DSL filter|splitters and feeders, or active-repeater amplifiers can be included to overcome the feeder losses. In systems where equalization is applied, it may be desirable to introduce delays between the antenna elements. This artificially increases delay spread in areas of overlapped coverage, permitting quality improvements via time diversity.

Distributed antenna system - Use in WiFi networks 1 Using a distributed antenna system to create an area of wireless coverage, it is possible to use this technique to propagate indoor WiFi for commercial uses. It is estimated that only about 5% of commercial WiFi use a distributed antenna system.

Boingo Wireless - Products and services 1 ** Distributed antenna system (DAS) - Boingo sells telecommunications companies access to a network of distributed Wi-Fi antennas at managed hotspot locations. The system is deployed within airports and other locations that require additional signal strength to improve the quality of cellular services.

Small cell - Umbrella term 1 Small cells are sometimes, incorrectly, also used to describe Distributed antenna system|distributed-antenna systems (DAS) which are not low-powered access nodes.

Leaky feeder - Underground railways 1 An alternative to using leaky feeder in underground railways is to use Distributed Antenna System (DAS). A DAS system was deployed in some New York City Subway stations by Transit Wireless to provide WiFi and mobile phone and data coverage for customers.

Transit Wireless 1 It specializes in building wireless communication infrastructure using distributed antenna system networks to provide Wi-Fi and mobile phone|cellular phone coverage in the places that are unreachable by traditional cellular phone services such as in the underground

Fibre-optic cable - Hybrid cables 1 These types of hybrid cables may also be useful in other environments such as Distributed Antenna System (DAS) plants where they will serve antennas in indoor, outdoor, and roof-top locations. Considerations such as fire resistance, Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Listings, placement in vertical shafts, and other performance-related issues need to be fully addressed for these environments.

Bank of America Plaza (Dallas) - Broadcast and communications center 1 The building operates a sophisticated in- building distributed antenna system as well as a shared tenant data center

Low emissivity - Criticism of low-E windows 1 Low-E windows may also block radio frequency signals. Buildings without distributed antenna systems may then suffer degraded cell phone reception.
