Robert De La Salle BY HAYWOOD STOWE

Robert De La Salle was a nobleman who traveled to France in 1666.

Robert wanted to be wealthy and trade post, forts, and settlements. Robert had a plan to find more riches for the king but the king wanted him to pay for his own journey. Then started his journey toward the Mississippi.

Robert then reached the Mississippi and named the vast region. After that Robert crossed Louisiana for the French king.

In 1684 Robert sailed to north America with more than 200 settlers.

Robert soon got back to the Mississippi river and claimed the whole area in 1682.

Robert then found a colony along the coast of what is now known as Texas. Not long after his settlers were convinced that he was crazy and killed him.

TRUE FACT: Robert trained himself to learn American Indian language. CLAIM OF FAME: went to find riches for kings.
