Reciprocity If a student is identified as gifted anywhere in Georgia, then he/she is gifted in Cobb County. There is no reciprocity across state lines, but appropriate test scores that were given in another state in the past 2 years can be used to establish eligibility.

Standardized Testing Vocabulary On a sticky note, list four vocabulary terms related to standardized testing that you recall from your education courses. Share your list with your “elbow partner.” Circle terms in common. Narrow your list to 2 CRITICAL terms...and define each in 5 words or less.

Did you include any of these? Reliability Validity Norm-referenced Criterion-referenced Standard deviation Percentiles Others?

Vocabulary Reliability: same score when retested Validity: measures what was meant to measure Norm-referenced: compares scores to others using a normal curve distribution Criterion-referenced: compares performance to a set standard Standard-deviation: how much the scores in a distribution typically deviate from the mean Percentiles: communicates comparison with the scores of other students; 50th percentile = “average”; 99th percentile = better than 99 of 100 others
