Task GIS-based Database of ASTARTE Product s Department of Physics and Astronomy University of Bologna, Italy WP8 Kick-off Meeting Bologna, Italy, 7 March 2014

Task 8.1 Hazard assessment methods Task 8.2 Exposure and vulnerability assessment approaches Task 8.3 Risk assessment methods Task 8.4 Quantifying and managing uncertainties Task 8.5 Pilot analysis support platform and GIS Risk Database of ASTARTE products Tasks of WP8 ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔

Task 8.5: Pilot Analysis Support Platform and GIS Risk database of ASTARTE Products Task leader: UNIBO The application of different methods for hazard, vulnerability and risk analyses implies the need to build a tool helping analyze results and provide solutions. A pilot Analysis Support (AS) platform will be developed and implemented that can build a solution by a combination of more or all assessment methods following a sort of a tree logic. Further, producing a large amount of thematic maps related to hazard, vulnerability and risk covering different geographic regions within NEAM and at different scales can be handled properly only by means of a GIS-based database populated of such ASTARTE project products. T8.5.1 Devising and implementing an Analysis Support ASTARTE platform to synthesize results obtained by the application of different approaches of hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment. T8.5.2 Implementing an ASTARTE GIS-based multi-layer database including results in form of maps produced by WP8. Task T8.5 (from the DoW)

WP8 - From hazard to risk assessment LIST OF DELIVERABLES

SubTask T8.5.2 Available software UNIBO can make the following GIS software platforms available: Commercial software: -ESRI ArcGIS Desktop v (Service Pack 5) -ESRI ArcGIS Server v (Service Pack 5) Open source software: -QGIS v GRASS GIS v MapServer (6.4.0 ?) -Google Earth

Information to be contained in the layers: -Bathymetry and topography -Coastline -Orthophotos -Administrative boundaries -Population -Buildings -Infrastructures -Historical inundation lines -Historical run-ups -Inundation maps from scenario hazard assessment -Inundation maps from probabilistic hazard assessment -Exposure layers -Vulnerability layers -Risk layers -… SubTask T8.5.2 Layers

Format for the layers: -Vector layers: -ESRI shapefiles -MapInfo -… in general all the GDAL ( recognized fileshttp:// -Raster layers – all GDAL recognized formats such as: -GeoTIFF (tif, tiff) -Erdas Compressed Wavelets (ECW) -Erdas Imagine Images (IMG) -Arc/Info ASCII Grids (ASC) -GMT NetCDF grid format (nc) -… SubTask T8.5.2 Formats
