The process Dr. Ronald L. Victor Education and Workforce Alliance Coordinator’s role: Coordinate the activities of the: Design Team Steering Committee/Planning Council Funding Sub-Committee Implementation

The steps and deliverables To work with the Design Team to provide governance and develop the process, as well as identify program measurements. Provide the Steering/Planning Council documentation that includes all data gathered and materials utilized to support the program implementation and to provide tools for future training and the sustainment of program objectives. Deliverables Process where young people are prepared for successful entry into the world of work. Training for district personnel to implement and sustain the program. Measurements to assess and evaluate program success. Program governance. Documentation of gathered data and process implementation plan. Tools for training and engaging people to sustain the program.

Portage County Mission The mission of the P-16 Alliance is to support the economic well-being of Portage County by creating workforce readiness through substantive partners among educators, business, government, and parents that results in a tailored approach for school to work (P-16) for the county.

Portage County Strategic Imperatives Build capacity among stakeholders in the areas of skills and knowledge, in transforming culture, and in transforming structures, systems, and processes. Sustain a public understanding. Identify community resources that can be used to help develop a workforce readiness plan for youth from birth through age 25 and their families. Develop a forum for businesses to discuss Portage County workforce needs. Portage County students will understand workforce readiness through hands-on experiential learning with educators, government, and community agencies. Increase high school and college graduation rates of Portage County youth. Increase retention of area youth in careers needed for growth in Portage County.

Lake County Mission The mission of the Education and Workforce (P-16) Alliance is to provide all students in Lake County access and sound preparation for a range of successful diverse career opportunities by engaging and involving businesses, families, educators, and the community.

Lake County Strategic Imperatives Begin a comprehensive dialogue between K-12+ Higher Education for the purpose of receiving career opportunities, college readiness, and career preparedness. Promote college readiness, career awareness; preschool readiness standard; capture resource of Lake Erie careers; transition imperative for preschool to high school to work; reduce career stigmatization – create career awareness, peer-to-peer opportunities. Address two transition periods. (1)Provide applications books on careers in preschool. (2)Provide education as career ladders. Provide coordinated, comprehensive preschool services to raise the nine standards bar across the county. Address the transition to kindergarten.
