SCENE 1 (A rag doll cranks the Jack in the Box and runs away after he pops up…) Jack in the Box: Happy Holidays! Happy Holidays, everyone! The cousins are coming for Christmas!

Cousin 6: Come on, you guys, let’s go to sleep Cousin 6: Come on, you guys, let’s go to sleep. It’s time, so what do you say? Little Cousin: (very sleepy) I will not go to sleep! I will not go to sleep! Older Cousin: What’s the matter with you all? You can’t be tired yet.

Cousin 1: We’re staying up all night tonight Cousin 1: We’re staying up all night tonight. You promised, don’t forget. (they all yawn and stretch “oh yeah, sure”) Little Cousin: (very sleepy) I WILL not go to sleep I will NOT go to sleep I will (they go to sleep!!!)

SCENE 4 Toy Soldier 1: Attention. Attention. Wake up, everyone SCENE 4 Toy Soldier 1: Attention! Attention! Wake up, everyone! Let’s get this party started. Come on! Let’s have some fun! All Sleepers: (wake up!) What was that?

(Boy rag doll knocks frantically on the Jack in the Box llid while the girl rag doll quickly turns the crank. “Pop goes the weasel”) Boy Rag Doll: (frantically) Now, now, Jack in the Box! What are you waiting for? Girl Rag Doll: Come out, Jack, it’s time at last! Open up your door!

Jack in the Box: (popping out) Happy Holidays everyone Jack in the Box: (popping out) Happy Holidays everyone! Oh happy Holidays! Did I hear “party”? Oh what a blast! I’m free! I’m free! I’m free at last! (the other toys are slowly coming to life. Dolls dance like ballerinas, soldiers salute, bear is dancing.) Cousin 1: I can’t believe it! The toys are talking! And look over there. The dolls are walking!

Cousin 2: I can’t believe my sleepy eyes Cousin 2: I can’t believe my sleepy eyes! I never expected this big surprise! Little Cousin: (wide eyed) I will not go to sleep! I will not go to sleep! Dancing Bear: (to little cousin) Hello there, little cousin

Little Cousin: (in unbelieve) I must be asleep Little Cousin: (in unbelieve) I must be asleep! Ballerina Doll: Come one and all, it’s time to play, Let’s have a special holiday! Dancing Bear: I’ve been waiting all year for this one big chance. Come on everyone, get up and dance!

Cousin 3: I’m talking about all the fun we had Cousin 3: I’m talking about all the fun we had. I can’t wait to tell my mom and dad! Cousin 5: You can’t tell them! They’ll never believe it. You better be quiet. You better just leave it. Cousin 6: Now go to sleep. It’s almost time for Santa to arrive.

Naughty Cousin 1: (guilty) You might as well forget that, Because Santa won’t come here. Cousin 2: Of course he will. It’s what he does, Once every single year. Naughty Cousin 2: He only goes to nice cousins’ homes, And I haven’t been very good.

Naughty Cousin 3: I was naughty once or twice myself Naughty Cousin 3: I was naughty once or twice myself. He’ll skip our neighborhood. Cousin 4: Oh come, my friends, you’ve got it wrong. Oh, please don’t talk that way. Cousin 6: What could you have possibly done to keep Santa Claus away?

Naughty Cousin 1: When I get up on Christmas Day And I look under our tree, all that green will turn to gray, ‘Cause there’ll be nothin’ there for me! Naughty Cousin 2: Well, I was bad, and I admit it! And now I’m really in a bind! And when I look around the chimney, Yeah, this is all I’m gonna find!

Naughty Cousin 3: Now, I’ve been lousy to my teacher, and even nasty to my pet! Well, I was such a crummy creature, About as bad as you can get! Naughty Cousin 4: So, Santa Claus ‘ll prob’ly pass me by, ‘Cause really, I’ve been such a drip! The F.B.I ‘ll prob’ly book me, When Santa gives my house “the skip!”

SCENE 6 Cousin 1: Now wait a minute. Wait a minute SCENE 6 Cousin 1: Now wait a minute! Wait a minute! It may not be too late! Naughty Cousin 1: Tell us what we have to do. We have no time to wait.

Cousin 2: It’s never too late to change your ways Cousin 2: It’s never too late to change your ways. Start being good today. Naughty Cousin 2: Do you think there's still a chance Santa might be on his way? Cousin 4: Of course one can never be quite sure, And I have a few misgivings.

Cousin 3: But Santa is a jolly old soul, And is quite forgiving Cousin 3: But Santa is a jolly old soul, And is quite forgiving. Naughty Cousin 4: Let’s start being good right here and now, At least ‘til the end of the year. Cousin 5: Then maybe Santa will notice, and once again appear.

Cousin 6: Okay. Okay. Not another peep Cousin 6: Okay! Okay! Not another peep! Be good right now and go to sleep! Little Cousin: I will go to sleep! I will go to sleep! I will ….(goes to sleep) (they all go to sleep. Santa, reindeer and elves come in. Santa stands in the middle of cousins.)

Santa: (speaking to the audience) Hello out there, dear family and friends. My name is Santa Claus. These are my friends, the reindeer and elves, And we come here just because, it’s hard to believe in anything that you can’t really see… Elf 1: Like happiness… Elf 2: And peace on earth…

Santa: And perhaps, especially me Santa: And perhaps, especially me! Blitzen: But happiness can be real you know… And joy is genuine too. Cupid: And at this time of year we know That children’s dreams come true.

Santa: So even as you get older, friends, And forget what you thought was true, Believe in joy and peace on earth, and perhaps they might find you. Blitzen: The holidays are here once more, And the year is about to end. Cupid: It’s time to get a fresh new start, And begin all over again.

Elf 1: If you’ve been naughty, or think you have, Maybe once or maybe twice, Now’s the special season To change naughty into nice. Elf 2: When you wake up from the sleepover, You’ll find a brand new year. Greet your friends and neighbors, And spread some holiday cheer. And now….

(Santa opens his bag and takes out a big alarm clock (Santa opens his bag and takes out a big alarm clock. He sets off the alarm clock-children wake up startled) Cousins: (adlibs) “What?” “What was that?” “What is going on?” “I’m up, I’m up” (Santa motions to the rag dolls to turn the crank on the JiB, “Pop goes the weasel” and JACK pops out)

Jack in the Box: Happy Holidays, everybody. Happy Holidays. Santa: Ho Jack in the Box: Happy Holidays, everybody! Happy Holidays! Santa: Ho! Ho! Ho! Wake up everyone! Let’s get this party hopping! I’ve only got a little time For holiday party stopping!

Cousins: It’s Santa Claus. Santa: Ho. Ho. Ho. How right you are Cousins: It’s Santa Claus! Santa: Ho! Ho! Ho! How right you are! Come on! Let’s have some fun! I’m real as real can be! Merry Christmas! Everyone! All: Hooray! “Reprise: Cousins for Christmas!”
