CVN project: format for the exchange and running of the research staff curriculums José Navarrete Cortés, Phd

Project Origin Starting Point Meeting November 8, 2005 at Anep (Prospective and Assessment National Agency) Objective: Setting up of an Information Exchange Format.  1st Stage of an Ambitious Project  Identification of one of the Critical Factors leading to Success - Do not insert information already stored in any database or digital file - Take advantage of the Existing SIC in the Autonomous Regions –Andalusia more than 14% % –Cataluña more than 22% –Madrid more than 22% % –Etc..

CVN Project Definition  CVN attempts to solve one of the obstacles which hinder researcher integral development within the Spanish Science- Technology-Enterprise System.  Currently, information about researchers in Spain shows a scattered view. Data records are neither standardised nor they can be exported. Despite this, they bear a high management cost.

R&D&I Curricular Information  The researcher is continuously requested a new curriculum and not and updated one  A lot of unexploited information is created  Information is scattered throughout different systems of different entities  Scattering produces: duplicities, inaccuracy, etc.  Its format is difficult to be exported (doc, pdf, …)  The different curricular “models” register a non-standardised information (despite the advance produced by IV standardised model proposed by CYCIT)

Guidelines for its development As for curricular information: - It must be the result of an agreement among entities - It must allow for one single curricular “language” - It must facilitate the updating, communication and or spread of information in one single exchange format and with a minimum participation on the part of the researcher - It must be capable of synchronizing the existing information systems of the Spanish Science-Technology-Enterprise System (SECTE) - It must enable the flow and use of information - It must reduce management costs

Guidelines for its development On the part of the researcher: - To preserve the existing contents and so, initial work is minimized - Once the researcher is registered, he will be only requested to update data - Data disclosure among entities must be carried out under the researcher’s authorization - The researcher must let anyone know his/her area of expertise so that new opportunities may arise

Data of the work done

Stage I: Year Objetives accomplished in 2006:  Analysis and modelling of curricular items  Definition of CVN structured format (CVN-XML)

Stage II: Year 2007 Objectives:  Creation of a Support Unit for CVN: - Service for the support and Quality Control both of the Process and the CVN Standard - Creation of the R&D&I Directory - Creation of value-added services for the flow and use (R&D&I Directory)  Changes in the computer systems of SECTE entities for their adjustment  Creation of a “consortium for the management of the curricular standard system”

R&D&I Directory Objectives: 1.To channel the scientific production spread through the different commercial databases in one single data file. 2.To create a platform to which local SIC can consult to increase their databases with institutional or regional production. 1.Development of a unit aimed at the identification and standardisation of both authors and institutions 2.By means of the creation of monitoring systems 3.To provide an homogeneous format suitable for being exported. 4.To create basic functions for CV exploitation addressed to both the researcher and the institution.
