(b) Casa de les Llengües – Linguamón: Set up by the Government of Catalonia to promote the world’s languages as (i) a vehicle for communication, civilisation and dialogue; (ii) a source of personal development, human creativity and heritage of mankind; and (iii) the rights of individuals and of linguistic communities. Framework strategy for multilingualism: Communication from the Commission [COM (2005) 596 final] “provide support through the […] LLLP for studies on the state of multilingualism in higher education and the creation of chairs in fields of study related to multilingualism and interculturalism” BACKGROUND (2)

Promote research, training, information and documentation activities related to multilingualism as a means of social and economic development Provide an interdisciplinary area for analysis and reflection on the role of multilingualism in society’s globalisation Produce and disseminate knowledge on the importance of languages and promote mechanisms for change and further multilingualism Establish an international cooperation framework for academic training and collaboration with international research institutions PURPOSE OF THE CHAIR
