First meeting 5/9 November 2013 The 4 elements in ancient philosophy and Roman times

In the first meeting, for the project three works were made by the students. In the first, named «1AEWF», talks about the four elements in our territory. For example how is the weather here, or agriculture, what kind of rivers we have...

The second work talks about the four elements in religion and ancient philosophy, from different countries and etnies.

In the third work, named «The earth in the four elements», the slides show how the Romans used the four elements in various periods of history, for their development and religion.

Second Meeting The Netherlands 18/22 January 2014 The 4elements in Art and Literature

The first work of this second meeting is a presentation of the two most important rivers in the zone of Motta di Livenza : the Livenza and the Monticano with their characteristics

The second work is an antique popular legend of the river Meduna. It talks about Medulina, a fantastic creature who saves a boy from drowning and falls in love with him.

Then there is a poem by San Francesco d’Assisi, who lived in the 13° century. The poem is about the 4elements, including the Sun, the Moon, the Stars and the Death.

The last work is a presentation of the artist Giotto, a very important Italian painter and architect, and his creations. He lived and created his works of art in the 14° century

Then we have three works about Leonardo da Vinci, an inventor who was born and lived in the 16th century. One talks about fire machines:

…one is about water machines…

…and here we have the earth machines

Another work we have is «River», a poem by Giuseppe Ungaretti who was born 1888 and lived until 1970

Our delegation also presented four poems by a great local artist, Andrea Zanzotto, who passed away a few years ago, in October 2011.

3rd Meeting in Wuppertal March 2014 Experimenting was the aim of this meeting. The students and the other partecipants were divided into groups: ‘’ Video, Technology, Drama, Poetry and Land Art’’. On the last night of the workshops, a presentation was held for the host families. All the workshops activities were presented to the families and they appreciated it.

* The four different groups worked on the four elements in different ways: * The students representing the “Drama” group, decided on the song and music for a dancing performance and later on they studied on the choreography inspired by the 4 elements. * Our “Poetry” group members learned how to write poems and they wrote poems about Air, Water, Fire and Land and then they made rehearsals on how to perform their poems. * At another workshop – Technology - several studies were done in order to create objects related to the 4 elements, for example, small model boats used the water vapour to move. * The Land Art group made installations in the nearby area exploiting the natural elements which they could find there. * The Video workshop members were in charge of filming what was going on.

* The specific objective of this meeting was the research on natural disasters * The presentations were on problems, precautions and safety measures regarding the 4 elements. Earthquakes (Tr), Floods(Nl),Storms(G) and Volcanoes(I). * Our Italian group presented a study on the situation of active volcanoes in Italy and the safety measures related to the area where our school is. * We went to the earthquake simulation center in another part of the capital and experimented the sensation of being in an earthquake.

In this meeting we went to Holland and the topic was renewable energies We made solar model cars and wind powered small wheel objects We performed experiments on energy. 5 th MEETING in Oisterwijk November 2014

The third day in Holland was a bit different, teachers led us to visit the city. Precisely took us to see a mill, always to stay on the topic of the four elements, then we visited a building that uses a heat pump to keep the temperature comfortable.

Before going to Holland our group members studied the importance of several different sources of renewable energy coming from the sun, the wind, the urban waste, the water, and their use in our local area. A2A PLANT

LOCAL RENEWABLE RESOURCES IN OUR AREA 1.Photovoltaic 2.Biomass 3.Biogas from decomposition of organic waste 4.Solar 5.Municipal urban waste
