788.11J Presentation “Intelligent Home Control Systems based on Active Sensor Networks” Presented by :Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed

The Main Idea Its idea is to control all home devices through wireless sensor network(active sensor network) using sensors can automatically gather physical sensing information and efficiently control various home devices using smart actuators such as relay switches or Infra-Reds using new routing protocol called Link Quality Indicator based Routing Protocol (LQIR) to improve the performance of system

The Main Achievements The main achievement is to control the home devices and take critical actions automatically This system used to accomplish some functions to control and check home devices as: 1.Crime Detection through detect movement 2.Control complex consumer home devices. TV, DVD, air conditioner and air cleaner 3.Control and check home devices through internet while the owner is out 4.Locking gas valves 5.Control lamp brightness

The Challenges The system make his functions using: 1.Sensing Component: The component gathers sensing data and special event information from the active home environments and provide this information to the decision component Generic sensor typed nodes try either to detect the general physical sensing measurements such as temperature, humidity and light or check for the special events such as gas leaks, human movement actuator typed nodes can directly control consumer home devices, ability of actuator is limited to turn on/off actions, utilizes IR (Infra-Red) communication also in order to instruct consumer devices such as TV, Air Conditioners

Sensors used as : 1.Light sensor 2.Motion detector 3.Gas detector Actuator used as : 1.Switch (ac-dc) 2.Infra red switch

2. Decision Component: The component recognizes the current home environment and enables the service components to select the appropriate service. 3. Service Components: These components represent some ubiquitous home services provided by system 4. Control Component: The component instructs special control commands to the deployed actuators, such as relay switches or Infra-Reds. 5. Interaction Component: The component manages interaction between control system and the active sensors. 6.Additional Communication Components: These components manage some other networking technologies such as WLAN,Ethernet

System supported by new protocol (LQIR) because Conventional routing protocols are difficult to accommodate to dynamic topology variations and to interact with our home control system by establishes the wireless network, based on the LQI value measured from the RF radio,When forwarding the data packet to the sink, the node selects the special node having the best LQI value among neighbors dynamically, it utilize the B-MAC protocol for shared media access, and a special narrow-band RF device that supports the LQI value, based on the IEEE standard types of packets : 1.Sensing packets ( set-command,data command, event comment ) 2.Control-Command packet

Some smart sensors

Innovation It have a very great idea to control devices when being outside,.. It use Ethernet as bridge between system and internet,.. so users can access with the home HTTP server through a laptop and PDA in the house
