Far and Away  You will be watching a film that portrays the life of 2 Irish immigrants who come to the United States for various reasons. The film displays a number of themes and topics including:  Day One—Immigration, Industrialization, Urbanization What do each of these “themes/topics” mean? Why are they important to study in history? *During the film take “notes” on the given questions. Create bullets of information using examples from the movie that support an answer to each question.

First Person Letter  Write a one page letter home from the perspective of one of the two main characters (Shannon or Joseph)  Should act as evidence of the experience of an immigrant in the late 19 th century  Should detail each of the Day One “themes/topics” (Immigration, Industrialization, Urbanization)  Should thoroughly explain your experience coming to and living in America  Should be CREATIVE!
