Aircraft

Bell UH-1 Iroquois Huey. [1959] Multi role. Attack helicopter and transporter. Changed the way in which wars are fought because it could transport people very quickly across the battlefield and the fact it is an attack helicopter allows it to fire rounds and hit enemies from a bar range.

Boeing CH-47 Chinook Twin rotar systems, medium lift helicopter. Can deliver troops, equipment, food, and other supplies. Very large capacity Changes way wars are fought because a vast amount of supplies can be transported across the battefeild. (37-55) combat ready troops. Has armour which can somewhat be protect from rounds.

Boeing vertol CH-46 sea knight Improvement from the CH-47. it is larger than the previous design which means it can carry more supplies and troops. It also serves extremely well with the navy, which provides support from the air for the marine corps Unlike the ch47, the ch46 can carry supplies from sling loads so it can be delivered to the battlefield without attack. It carries an addition 15—25 troops and 15 stretcher patients Changes the ways in which wars are fought because of quicker supplied weapons and goods, and more care for troops if they may be injured.

Cessna A-37 Dragonfly 1967 Light aircraft, observation and control for the USAF. Its undercarriage and wings were reinforced, which is beneficial as this offers some protection from attacks. The fuel tanks from previous models had been increased in size, which allows greater range for observations. It included modern USAF weapons support, navigation and communications equipment. This changed the ways in which wars are fought, as the long ranged aircraft allows more observations thus allowing the US to create tactics. It also provided a great amount of support for troops for instance warning them of enemies near.

Grumman Northrop Grumman 1967 Carrier-based cargo aircraft. Main role to shuttle personnel, supplies and spare parts from land bases to carriers at sea with outstanding turn around times. Foldable wings. Changed the way in which wars are fought, it could land on aircraft carriers, allowing more troops to support the ships and to help the USAF to transport them to different places. It carried a great amount of supplies which saved time for ships to turn back and get more, which allowed 24/7 operation of ships.

O-2 Skymaster ‘’duck’’ 1967 These were used to observe the movements of formations and direct air strikes against them. Changed the way in which wars are fought for delivering air strikes, directing troops and protecting soldiers.

Kaman H-2 Tomahawk 1960s/70s Attack helipcopter, relatively small which makes it a small target, turrets each with 7.62mm machine guns. Can be used in conjunction with each other or separate. Rockets which were 2.75inch (unguided) Additional armour plating around the cockpit, engine and transmission. With extra fuel tanks. Changed the way in which wars are fought, helicopters which could deal more damage quickly than soldiers cut down the amount of troops (to a relative size). It had a longer range and could go faster for longer because of this increased fuel tank. Weapons on-board could be used all together to attack the same target or separately, this was beneficial as if there was many soldiers then all weapons could be used on the same target. Armour allowed the helicopter to be protected from attacks.

AH-1 Huey Cobra (still produced) Had increased fuel size, greater weapon size, faster fire rate and can move quickly. Helicopter has a short turn around time and can fire quckly, which allows attacks to be much more faster.

Grumman F-14 Tomcat. Supersonic, twin jet variable sweep wing fighter aircraft. Role; interceptor, air superiority and combat aircraft Fast efficient, intercepted enemy aircraft. Changed the way in which wars are fought as it can destroy enemy aircraft and alleviate enemy attacks.
