Florida State Financial Aid Application available at Students must apply now to be considered for: – Bright Futures Scholarship – Florida Student Assistant Grant – Florida Work Experience Program – Jose Marti Scholarship – Robert C. Byrd, etc – Florida State Grants (FREE MONEY!)

Institutional Financial Aid Students must contact schools directly to find out if a separate application is needed Some private schools may require the CSS profile. Information and application available online at

Who can get federal student aid? U.S. citizen or (usually) permanent resident High school graduate/GED holder Eligible degree/certificate program Valid Social Security number Males registered for Selective Service Satisfactory academic progress

How to Apply for Federal Aid Complete an electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on or after January 1 st. Paper applications are available by contacting FAFSA at: FED-AID It is much easier and faster to fill out the FAFSA online FAFSA on the Web at:

How much federal student aid can I get? Example: first-year student in Maximum amounts allowed: Federal Pell Grant: approx. $5,350 Academic Competitiveness Grant: $750 Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan: $8,500 Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan: $20,500 less any subsidized loan amount received for same period Subsidized Federal Perkins Loan: $5,500 Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant: $4,000 Federal Work-Study: depends on funds available at school Federal PLUS Loan (for parents): COA minus other aid received For more information see:

Your Federal PIN Your PIN is your electronic signature Both you and one of your parents will need a PIN. Request a PIN for you and your parents at Use PIN to file and make online corrections

After you submit your FAFSA You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) indicating Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Review information and make corrections if necessary If you are selected for verification you will be required to provide requested documentation and a copy of your tax return

Award Letters You will be receiving an award letter from each institution you listed on the FAFSA, and to those which you have been admitted Award letters will tell you how much money in grants, loans, and work study you are receiving If you think you did not get enough aid, you may request a review Read your award letter carefully, and follow any instructions that pertain to you. If you wish to accept or decline the aid awarded, indicate it on the form. Make sure you keep a photocopy before you sign it and return it to the college Make sure to bring any Scholarship Award letters to Ms. Medina as soon as you receive them, even if you do not plan to accept the scholarship
