Tips on how parents can help their child be successful in school

o Communicate with your children o Have contact with the teacher on a regular basis o Look over assignments & homework that is sent home o Be available to talk about, assist, or review work with your children o Praise your children for good work and behavior

Be Involved * Get involved with your child’s classroom * Get involved with your child’s homework * Get involved with your child’s relationships with others

 Explain how studying can help them receive good grades  Explain why good grades are important (Example, college and career)  Give consequences if poor choices are made

Healthy Eating  Keep good healthy food choices in the house  Feed children breakfast. The most important meal of the day  Say “NO” to junk food

 Quiet area  Plenty of lights  Plenty of room  Limit television viewing  Set a daily routine for studying
