Your project…….. Design your dream home! You have a budget of $1,000,000 You will need to pay for your home - $1,000 for every square metre (eg. A 200 square metre home will cost you $200,000) You will need to purchase floor coverings, curtains, paint, light fittings, taps etc. You will need to purchase all furniture including sinks, shower, toilet etc. You will need to purchase all items for your kitchen such as plates and pots as well as bedding, towels etc.

What rooms and how many of each would you have in your dream home ?

STEP 1: Create a floor plan of your dream home on grid paper Your floor plan needs to be to scale. Include the actual length and width of each room on your plan (even hallways!). Calculate and record the area of each room on your plan. Any built in furniture such as kitchen cabinets needs to be drawn from a bird’s eye view.

What will you need to buy to furnish every space in your dream home ?

STEP 2 Furnish your home! Create a table in your book. You will need a column for every room in your house. Under each room, list the furniture including flooring, lights, paint etc that you will need to purchase for that room. Include the cost of each item. For carpet, you will need to calculate the cost in square meters.
