Finding the Mean Take the average Ex: 92, 95, 94, 89, 100 1. Add up all the data points 2. Divide by total number of data points Ex: 92, 95, 94, 89, 100 1st - 92 + 95 + 94 + 89 + 100 = 470 2nd - 470 ÷ 5 = ? Answer is : 94

Graphing Techniques

1. X- Axis Contains the independent variable

Y - axis Contains the dependent variable

3. Numbering intervals on each axis must be consistent Acceptable: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 ….etc. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 …. 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 … NOT: 3, 5, 6, 10, 21, 33

4. Each axis must be labeled Tell what is being shown on each axis Give the units of measurement where appropriate

5. Give your graph a TITLE!

If you are graphing more than one set of data points on a graph, set up a color key to distinguish between the different lines
