Regional Energy Centre of Western Greece ( *) Basic conclusions Transport the most energy-consuming (50%) High electricity demand in housing sector (36%) Strong dependence on fossil fuels, limited RES (2,1%) Transport the highest percentage in CO 2 emmissions(66%) Public lighting 4% of energy consumption *Suspended its action due to lack of funding

2. Covenant of Mayors Signed on 06/11/2008 Preparation of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for the City of Patras is underway with the assistance of the National Centre for Renewable Energy Sources (CRES)

3. Program EXOIKONOMO (Energy Saving) Implementation of Energy Efficiency in Municipalities (> inhabitants) Aims at: Improvement of Energy Efficiency at local level Promotion of Demonstration Actions with immediate results Sensitisation of Citizens Sensitisation of Local officials

Program EXOIKONOMO (Energy Saving) Axis 1: existing municipal buildings (55-65%) Energy upgrade of the building shell for the reduction in heating and cooling demand Energy upgrade of the electro-mechanical installations for the increase of energy efficiency of municipal buildings Upgrade of the system of natural/artificial lighting Installation of energy management system (BEMS) with a monitor for projecting the results to the citizens Axis 2: public urban spaces (15-25%) Axis 3: urban transport (0-15%) Axis 4: municipal technical infrastructure (0-4%) Axis 5: dissemination, networking and updating of municipal officials (0-4%)
